“On the fifth day, which was a Sunday,
it rained very hard.
I like it when it rains hard.
It sounds like white noise everywhere,
which is like silence but not empty.”
― Mark Haddon,
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
It rained like a son of a gun last night and I slept soundly until 3 am
when a sound like skittering mice in the attic had me sitting
straight up and staring at the ceiling....I called my kitties thinking that maybe for
some odd reason they had gotten into the ceiling and were bouncing around on
kitty paws just to drive me crazy when I then heard the thunder and saw the
zig zag of the lightening through the windows....
When I did finally awake from a now refreshing sleep I could see the little jewels
of raindrops in the trees, too soon to be gone as the temps were climbing and
soon they would dry up....I snapped a few pictures but they became smaller and
smaller, soon the fog lifted and the tree limbs were bare again leaving me with
a sense of wonder as to how I missed this sight after so many other rainy nights.
