"Make a little birdhouse in your soul"
— Linnell Flansburgh

All my little birdhouses are vacant and just waiting for that first bluebird, or sparrow or wren
to come by and take up residence. Probably a month yet if I am lucky.....

Thank you so much for any favs or comments to my work....
I do appreciate it very much

My work cannot be used for any reason whatsoever

yes, i collect old junky chairs and add stuff to them....They are becoming
very expensive to buy now, used to get them almost free, now they come with
a 20 or 30 dollar price tag.....

Thank you so much

oh of course, if you have them in a dark color, you can get a weatherproof
white exterior paint for the chairs you want out in your garden...No one will know
and they are so cute because the white really stands out in green gardens or falls lovely colors.....I am from the deep woods of Michigan and we have 8 months of winter most years and the white looks as lovely in snow against the bare trees too....
I can find the broken chairs at any rummage sale most times for a few dollars and when you add a bird house or some branches you can sell them for 35 or 40 dollars.....Honest....

Good luck, would love to see any photos you take of your little bird house chairs...

my chair is brown. painting it white is a great idea! thank you! :) wow, 8 months of winter! :P i'm in Massachusetts and sometimes our winter is 6 months or more, though usually not too much snow all the time, just cold. can't wait for Spring, it's just about here! :) i'm planting my garden now and am going to "plant" my broken chair for sure! :) (maybe put flowers were the seat was) i will certainly send you a photo when it's done!

thanks for your inspiration!!

I took the broken seat off and got the biggest plastic planter I could find and sat it
in the hole and planted a variety of cascading and erect plants in it...the cascading draping ones hang down and hide the pot, and just make it softer looking....I can't wait to see your photos of your work....

They have to get used to it and feel safe in using it....too low to the ground
keeps them hyperaware of kitties and raccoons and skunks and then the babies
if they survive suffer....Too high and they ignore it completely unless they
are swallows, they seem to like right above the eye height of the photographer
or the person putting out a few treaters....Even with the ice storm today when
they couldn't even stand on the feeders without slipping off I must have had
a hundred birds in and out during the day...Good luck

birds are pretty smart, they actually dont like dogs or cats
very much and I have seen them abandon feeders if a cat or dog
is even near the edge of my lot.....we have ferel cats who think
that my cabin is Nirvana, and the birds tell me that they are there
way before the cat announces itself....

Yeah, we actually don't have very many birds that visit us here. We don't have nearly as many feral cats here as we once did, but our two boys like to go out a lot.

Last year I had ferals on my porch nearly every day....The county has
implemented a new way of dealing with ferals by trapping, fixing and
release to the area....With the cats being fixed there are less ferals
now in my area....I had a pair of twins who were only about 6 weeks old
show up this winter and they were the cutest little things I ever saw...

Dont get me started....I do love them so.....LOL

Sounds like a good plan. Are the twins some of the ones you posted pic's of?

No, the twins showed up at my door early in the morning and late at night.
They sat on the porch and hopped around like bunnies and ran and hid under the
truck...I put a call out to my shelter and they were captured humanely and
spent about only a week with the shelter before they were adopted. It was so
cold that I was afraid that another day out in the wild would probably kill
them. I do have a photo from the shelter the day they showed up there and
then could rest easy knowing they were being taken care of.....

I am on Lake Superior and never even hope to see a little birdie in
the nests until May and then they make up for lost time with so
many eggs to shoot and so many babies sometimes I get dizzy.....LOL

We are being promised more rain and snow this coming weekend again....
have heard stories of people walking to the highways just to see and wave at
cars going back and forth during this cabin fever time...True Story....

Thank you so much
